The Jalikeakek Letters Project

In 1955, Woodrow Ulysses Jalikeakek was a veternarian student doing his internship at the Northspoon Ranch in Steamingpile, TX.  Hoss "Big Mole" Schwartz, the ranch owner, presented Wood with the biggest challenge of his young career.  It was Maggie Jo Sue, a five year old dairy cow.  Maggie Jo Sue was giving sour milk, wouldn't graze, and on more than one occasion, was found standing at the edge of the roof of the barn, threatening to jump.  Wood, using a combination of psychotherapy and herbal therapy, was able to give Maggie Jo Sue a new lease on life.   Sadly, soon after Wood left the ranch, Maggie Jo Sue relapsed, and was severely injured after walking  in front of a locomotive that was not equipped with a cowcatcher.  Horrified at the tragic turn in his patient's life,  Wood vowed that he would do all he could to help every depressed cow in America.  With his friend in mind, he founded Moos Blues, the forerunner to CowCope after graduating in 1958.   46 years and 8328 patents later, CowCope is one of the leaders in pharmaceutical solutions for cattle.   Wood died in 1984 from complications of a low carb diet.
